In today’s world, it has become increasingly popular to “go green”. Many couples try to incorporate sustainable actions in their weddings, whether they are big or small. One company, rEvents, is dedicated to repurposing and reusing materials to benefit the Charleston community.
Sarah Bella Slagsvol started rEvents after seeing the lack of opportunities to minimize waste in the event industry. Launched in January 2016, the company is a nonprofit that will pick up your reusable event materials for free, and deliver them to a charity of your choice. They are involved with charities in the Charleston area, such as hospitals, homeless shelters, foster care services, and more. They will take goods like flowers, linens, vases, votives, and any other items you would like to donate.
One of their most popular services is repurposing bouquets and redistributing them in the community. After picking up your flowers, they rearrange them and create mini “Bedside Bouquets.” The bouquets are accompanied by a ribbon and greeting tag, with a message from those who donated. rEvents can also provide table cards for your event to inform your guests of your donation. Any flowers that are unusable are locally composted.
rEvents provides services for more than just weddings! They will pick up materials from galas, corporate events, dinner and birthday parties, as well as bridal and baby showers.
Love this company but have no events coming up? You can get involved by donating, volunteering or spreading the word about rEvents! Check out their website for more information.
